The color of Huanghuali varies from yellow-brown, red-brown to purple-brown. The pattern is beautiful, the material is delicate, and the price is as gold as jade. The exquisite handicrafts and
furniture made with it have become practical, ornamental, value-preserving and collection treasures, which are deeply loved by consumers and collectors. Huanghuali is the common name of fragrant wood, which belongs to the wood of the genus Dalbergia, the family Papilionaceae. There are about 120 species in the genus Dalbergia. There are three types of precious commercial woods in this genus, red rosewood, black rosewood and scented wood. Among them, scented wood is the most precious, and its wood air-dry density (12% moisture content) is greater than 0.8g/ cm3, the average chord diameter of the tube hole is not more than 120μm, and the wood has a special spicy aroma, which is different from other tree species. Fragrant wood species are produced in Hainan, China, and northern and southern Vietnam. The one produced in Hainan is called Hainan Huanghua Pear (referred to as Haihuang), and the one produced in Vietnam is called Vietnam Huanghua Pear (referred to as Yuehuang). Sea yellow mainly refers to Dalbergia odorifera (Dalbergia odorifera) tree species, which is endangered and very rare. The yellow pears circulating on the market mainly come from Vietnam, but the specific tree species have not been determined. The three teachers of Nanjing Forestry University Xu Yongji, Zhang Yaoli and Nguyen Thimei passed the test of Tokyo Huanghua from the timber specimen room of Vietnam Forestry University. The study on the species of sandalwood (Dalbergia tonkinensis Prain) confirmed that the species of Dalbergia tonkinensis belongs to the wood of the fragrant wood, which is commonly known as the Vietnamese huanghuali. Because Tokyo Dalbergia trees are very scarce and endangered, it was listed as a protected tree species in the N-CP group IA by the Vietnamese government on March 30, 2006. Further reading: Identification of Dalbergia cochinensis (Dalbergia spp.) Tokyo Dalbergia, also known as Dalbergia vietnam. It is called fragrant stick wood in China, but it can be commonly called Vietnam huanghuali. It is mainly distributed in northern Vietnam, and relevant data show that it is also distributed in Hainan, my country. It often grows below 500m above sea level. Arbor, 3-15m high. When young, the trunk is curved, the surface is smooth, and the young skin is off-white. After maturation, the bark is yellowish brown or gray, and longitudinally lobed. The heart and sapwood are clearly distinguished. The sapwood is light in color, grayish light yellow, and the heartwood is yellow-red, reddish brown to purple reddish brown, often with brown or dark stripes. The freshly cut mask has a spicy aroma, and the spicy fragrance reveals a sweet fragrance. The smell will fade after a long time, and the growth ring will not be obvious. Diffusion-porous material has a tendency of semi-diffusion. The tube holes are small, slightly visible under the naked eye, few to a little bit, uneven distribution; scattered. Yellow-brown or red-brown gum is often contained in the tube hole. The axial parenchyma is obvious under the naked eye, thin ribbon-like, wing-like and poly-wing-like. The wood rays are thin, visible under a magnifying glass, and the chord surface waves are obvious. The structure is fine, the texture is staggered or oblique, and the air-dry density is 0.80-1.03g/cm3. Extended reading: The difference between Dalbergia odorifera and Dalbergia odorifera. The cross-section of the catheter is oval or round, with a single tube hole, a small number of multiple tube holes (2-4, most 2-3); 3-10 Tube hole/mm2; The tube hole is small, the chord direction can be up to 210μm, and the average diameter is 108μm; the tube hole has a gum; the vessel element single tube hole; the inter-tube pits are arranged in each other, and the attachment type pits. The axial parenchyma is rich in wing-like, poly-wing-like, narrow bands around the tube, and scattered-aggregate (Figure 2); the parenchyma cells have compartmentalized crystalline cells, containing 10 or more rhomboid crystals. The wood fiber wall is thick; it is stacked; the wall has a single hole or slightly narrow margin. Wood rays are stacked, with few single rays, multiple rays are 2-3 cells wide, and 3 rows are more, usually 7-9 cells high; the ray tissue is the same shape, heterogeneous type Ⅲ trend, and occasionally upright cells are seen. The pit type between the ray and the catheter is similar to the pipe pit type. For a period of time, how to determine the sea yellow and yellower yellow, mainly rely on experience, no clear data support. But in the future, Dalbergia odorifera and Tokyo Dalbergia have their own clear tree structure standards, which can be clearly distinguished through identification. In theory, it is clear that sea yellow is more yellow at a glance. There is only one problem that cannot be solved, and that is the appraisal report. According to the regulations of the Academy of Forestry, the appraisal report only issues the category, not the tree species. In other words, although the experts have identified the tree species and know whether it is Dalbergia odorifera or Dalbergia tokyo, the appraisal report to you only writes 'Fragrant sticksyellow. But there is also a serious problem. According to the current national standard, there is only one species of Dalbergia odorifera under Dalbergia odorifera. Dalbergia odorifera specifically refers to Hainan huanghuali. In theory, Dalbergia odorifera is equal to Dalbergia odorifera and Hainan huanghuali. The problem is big, which means that all fragrant sticks are judged to be Hainan huanghuali. To solve this problem, only the appraisal report can be issued to the tree species, but the current appraisal report can only be issued to the category but not the tree species, so the 'embarrassment' can only continue, even if the national standard is revised, the Tokyo Dalbergia is written under the fragrant branch. But the appraisal result is still the same as the original. Vietnamese huanghuali is actually not a kind of Tokyo huanghuali. While experts are studying Vietnamese huanghuali, they also discovered that another type of Dalbergia sp, also known as Vietnamese huanghuali, is circulating in the market. It looks exactly like Tokyo Dalbergia, but it is not Tokyo Dalbergia, let alone Dalbergia odorifera. The name of its tree species has not yet been determined. It seems that the waves have not settled and the waves have risen again. Many people say that the 'redwood' water is too deep, which is evident from this.
